touroThe Orthopaedic Associates of New Orleans are well-acquainted with college athletes, high school athletes and weekend warriors. OANO has the special training and expertise that it takes to correctly address athletic injuries with a thorough understanding of both the importance and the risks of sports.

Orthopaedic sports medicine surgeons repair ankles, knees and shoulders; they also provide guidance for injury prevention. Heading off overuse syndromes, or ACL injuries, suggesting helpful nutrition, and making sure beginning players understand their own anatomy are part of the “game” in this branch of medicine.

Old sports injuries frequently are the source of problems later in life, especially arthritis. Starting up a new sport can raise new issues. It’s a good idea to heed the warning signs of an injury and not “play through” to the point of constant pain.

We are proud to say that OANO are the team physicians for the Delta Festival Ballet Association, Country Day and Holy Cross High School. Our doctors work closely with athletic trainers and coaches to protect young athletes.

OANO surgeons are able to repair rotator cuff tears, labral tears, and other disorders of the shoulder through arthroscopic surgery.  This means no open incisions and less muscle damage to the patient.  Patients are able to recover faster and have better results with arthroscopic surgery.
